Lamborghini Squadra Corse has recently published a first sketch of the upcoming Temerario GT3. To be unveiled in 2025, the Huracan EVO2-replacing thriller will make its race debut in early 2026.
The Raging Bull of Sant'Agata Bolognese clearly stated twin-turbo V8 on social media but did not mention any electrical assistance. Considering that all GT3 race cars today are internal combustion only, the Italian automaker is likely going to yank out all electric motors and battery cells in favor of that screaming V8 powerhouse.
In addition to Lamborghini's Huracan, this particular class further comprises the Aston Martin Vantage, Ford Mustang, Porsche 911, Corvette Z06, Lexus RC F, McLaren 720S, BMW M4, and Ferrari 296. Of the aforementioned, only the Fezza is a V6 affair with electric assistance in road-going specification. The 296 GT3, meanwhile, features the narrow-angle V6 exclusively, as mandated by the regulations.
GT3 cars have similar power-to-weight ratios, with maximum power topping 600 horses. Of course, Lamborghini can easily squeeze out 600 from the 4.0-liter unit of the all-new Temerario, which is heading stateside for the 2026 model year. The flat-plane V8 generates 800 metric ponies or 789 mechanical stallions at 9,000 through 9,750 rpm.
Peak torque is listed as 730 Newton-meters or 538 pound-feet, with said twist available from 4,000 through 7,000 rpm. Including the 3.8-kWh battery and electric motors, total output is 920 cv or 907 hp. It's crazy how powerful the baby Lambo has become for model year 2026, but on the other hand, Automobili Lamborghini is crazy like that.
The switch from road-going Temerario to GT3 racer will further mean rear-wheel drive instead of all-wheel drive, along with a straight-toothed sequential transmission rather than a dual-clutch box. We also expect steel brakes instead of carbon ceramics.
Goodyear was the exclusive tire supplier for LMGT3 race cars in this year's FIA WEC, with Goodyear contracted to keep supplying GT3-spec rubber through the end of 2026. In other words, Temerario GT3 will surely feature tires from the Ohio-based manufacturer.
On that note, it's worth remembering that Lamborghini rolled out the V10-engined Huracan GT3 in 2015. Developed with input from Dallara, the car made its race debut at Monza in the Blancpain GT Series.
The GT3 EVO followed suit with more power and less weight at the 2019 edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona. As for the GT3 EVO2, make that 2022. Inspired by the road-going STO, the EVO2 builds on its predecessor with a number of small updates, including a revised intake system and better aerodynamics.
On the subject of aero, the sketch published by Squadra Corse on social media reveals a pretty sweet rear wing for the Temerario GT3. With the newcomer being rear-wheel drive, it needs plenty of rear downforce to keep the rear end nice and stable at high speeds, under braking, and in the fastest of corners.
