The Bavarian automaker BMW is currently at a crossroads. Many of its recent and current designs have come under major flak from enthusiasts and specialists alike, some of its technical decisions are also under scrutiny, and the company is preparing to introduce a completely new styling language – the 'Neue Klasse.’
Let's list some of the most recent BMWs like the 2 Series and M2, the M3 and M4, iX, 7 Series and i7, or the high-performance XM. Is there any unity of design among them? Is there at least one person who can say wholeheartedly they don't despise any of the mentioned nameplates due to their odd design? Also, with the introduction of the ultra-heavy plug-in hybrid BMW M5 and M5 Touring, the company is treading on shaky ground as far as the usually flawless technical specifications nowadays. Additionally, right when they were preparing to introduce the new styling ethos, they decided to reshuffle the design team and send the architect of many of the wacky recent BMWs to Rolls-Royce to cool down a little.
As such, is anyone surprised that the rumor mill always keeps a critical and watchful eye on what happens with BMW? Or that even the parallel universes of vehicular CGI are wondering what it would be like if the Bavarians gave us a more traditional alternative styling courtesy of a member of the imaginative guild of digital car content creators? Anyway, here's Giorgi Tedoradze, the Georgia-based industrial designer better known as tedoradze.giorgi on social media, who has a quick CGI idea regarding another member of his 'alternative design' BMW series – the potential upcoming iX6 coupe-SUV.
This pixel master has been highly prolific in terms of differently-styled BMWs in the past – the CGI expert worked on models like the BMW 7 Series and i7, a non-existent X9 flagship, as well as the X7, X5, X3, or X1, among others. Obviously, he likes to focus on the Bavarian crossovers, so nobody was surprised when he presented a sketchy BMW iX6 coupe-SUV with an alternative CGI design to impress the EV adopters with its stylish yet eco potential. Now he's back to showcase it in a more natural manner – as a 3D model with some off-road qualities – as it's depicted traveling a winter landscape.
As far as the styling is concerned, this author keeps things simple – the kidney grille is big but not humongous and has a 'mustache' shape rather than resembling two coffins like an M3 or M4. The headlights are slim but not split into many pieces, and there are also a couple of beefy LED projectors embedded in the front bumper. The profile is slim as per coupe-SUV percepts, but the interior should be roomy because this conceptual design project is very wide. So, what do you think?
