There have been quite a few novelties this week, and some of them were pretty interesting. However, I can't help but notice that OEMs have nothing in the aftermarket realm, which is quite simply amazingly spectacular on many occasions. Of course, I'm about to give you a few eloquent examples.
This past week has been quite eclectic, to say the least – and many automakers started to reveal their 2024 SEMA Show goodies well in advance. But we'll talk more about the Las Vegas event when it's over so we can also draw some conclusions. Anyway, the final days of October started cool with Hyundai revealing a new rolling laboratory – the RN24 all-electric prototype, which doesn't necessarily look like a car anymore due to its stripped-up allure.
From the N Day 2024 online event, we moved quickly to America to see the fresh 2025 Lincoln Navigator 'outperform' the refreshed 2025 Cadillac Escalade in one key area – it's much more expensive than its most ardent rival. America's 2025 Audi RS Q8 Performance, boasting 631 hp, looks like a 'budget-friendly' Lamborghini Urus alternative, and Ford dared to roll out the 2025 E-Transit van with the same starting MSRP as the ICE-powered counterpart.
We don't know if that will help them – we have already heard that its F-150 Lightning factory will be idled midway through November and won't resume production until 2025 because of continued low demand. Anyway, the 2025 GMC Sierra EV build and price online tool went live as an alternative to the Cybertruck from Tesla and the idled Lightning, complete with two battery pack options and the new AT4 and Elevation trims alongside the original Denali grade.
Speaking of Tesla, the rumor mill has found out that it's hard at work testing the Model Y 'Juniper' development prototypes over in China, in Europe the little 2025 Jeep Avenger 4xe is available to order with a pretty tall starting price while over in Japan the 2025 Subaru Outback got a JDM-exclusive special edition ahead of switching to an all-new generation that will see the nameplate morph into a veritable crossover SUV rather than a crossover station wagon. Oh, yeah, and if anyone cared to remember Lancia, the new 2026 Gamma flagship was teased with multi-energy credentials.
Back to America, the 2025 Ford Ranger Raptor order banks are now open with fresh colors, the 2025 BMW M5 Touring US configurator also went live, but you won't like the MSRP of almost $145k of this performance station wagon, and the little 2025 Abarth 600e also rolled out with an eye-watering starting price and a limited-edition Scorpionissima flagship. In case you didn't know, automakers consider new paint colors worthy of entire press releases – Honda did that with their 'silveriest' Civic e:HEV, and Bentley also enlisted a fashion designer to create a new Nila Blue bespoke hue.
Yep, they're that boring. Luckily, some of them want to seem more lively than others – the twice-facelifted Volvo XC90 went on sale, the new Skoda Kodiaq RS debuted with sporty credentials, the Ram 2500 Yellowstone wants to remind us of Montana but it's actually for Australia, the 1969 Bertone Runabout was revived and went from 50 to 500 horsepower, Lucid opened the orders for its Gravity SUV, and Cadillac announced its first zero-emissions member of the V-Series, the 2026 Cadillac Lyriq-V. However, the most interesting stuff came from Porsche – the 992.2, refreshed 2025 Porsche Carrera T debuted its Convertible option, and this is a manual-only neunelfer, if you can believe that, in 2024!
Additionally, the 2025 Kia Tasman represents the company's first foray into the world of pickup trucks with a mid-size body-on-frame model done right – it's not boring like the Toyota Hilux or Ford Ranger. Still, it's just as practical and even more luxurious and technologically advanced. It's an exercise of style, for sure, and it could easily end up just as controversial as some recent BMWs without even reaching all global markets – but for sure, everyone around the world will know its looks.
Speaking of fashion senses, I promised a few examples of how the aftermarket realm – especially in America- continuously beats OEMs in terms of glamor and imagination. Well, here is a trio of examples. We start softly with a Rolls-Royce Phantom dressed in silver and a hue that's not unlike the classic British Racing Green. Additionally, it's seasoned by LA's Royal Exotic with new 'running shoes' from Forgiato Designs, a set of massive Blank-Ra-M aftermarket wheels from the Monoleggera series of the company. But wait, that's just the appetizer – a stunning vehicle set against a mundane background.
Secondly and thirdly, we have embedded below a couple of creations equipped with Miami, Florida-based Vossen's setups. First, the City of Reading in Pennsylvania provided the perfect setting for a black Lamborghini Revuelto to show off its dark and menacing 1,001-horsepower plug-in hybrid V12 credentials against the red Pagoda backdrop. If that's not worthy of a modern Shogun interpretation of James Clavell's glorious action-romance-drama novel, I will drop at its Vossen GEN-01 three-piece wheels finished with a Satin Black Center and Gloss Clear Outer Barrel and do twenty.
Also, back in their hometown, there's a stunningly purple RWD Porsche 993 dwelling around South Beach in front of the Boulevard Hotel and showcasing its Vossen GEN-05 three-piece wheels dressed in Brushed Gloss Clear Center and Outer Barrel but also featuring the company's new and aggressive center plate. So, which is your favorite?
