The all-new Aston Martin DB12 premiered approximately one and a half years ago, so what's up with this so-called DB13? Well, it's the current model's hypothetical successor, as its name implies, and it has just become a permanent resident of Fantasy Land.
You didn't really think the British exotic car manufacturer was going to throw out the window the huge amount of money invested in the DB12's development by sacking it and launching a brand-new sports grand tourer, right? Why, of course, you didn't. After all, no automaker does that, and there would be no reason for a DB13 in Aston Martin's lineup just yet.
Given that the DB11 stayed in production for seven years and that the DB12 is only one year old, it's possible that the DB13 will launch around 2030. Rest assured, as no one knows what it will look like or what type of power it will feature. We hope it remains committed to the ICE recipe, though it is possible that it might be battery-electric. A mix of the two is also probable, so it remains to be seen what path the company chooses.
On the visual front, this rendered Aston Martin DB13 still resembles an Aston. It has a large reinterpreted grille, thinner headlights, a long hood, flush-mounted door handles, different trim on the fenders, sporty side skirts, and a redesigned side window line. The quarter panels are still fat and have a line on them similar to the current DB12, and the wheels look like a reinterpretation of the current sports GT's alloys.
We should also note that the front overhang appears to be a bit longer and that long vented hood suggests an internal combustion engine rests under it. The pixel manipulator, who goes by the name of tedoradze.giorgi on Instagram, gave the car a white paint finish, a black roof, black side mirror casings, and additional black accents on other components, and displayed the model's new name on the front license plate before calling it a day.
As a refresher, the new Aston Martin DB12 family (Coupe and Volante) sticks to the V8 recipe by featuring a Mercedes-AMG-sourced 4.0L twin-turbo V8. The motor produces 671 horsepower (680 ps/500 kW) and 590 pound-feet (800 Nm) of torque, directed to the rear wheels through a ZF 8sp automatic transmission. The Coupe needs 3.6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 kph), and the Volante (convertible) is one-tenth of a second slower. The top speed is 202 miles per hour or 325 kilometers per hour in both.
So, do you think Aston Martin's upcoming DB13 (there's no reason to believe the DB series will be dropped after the current DB12) will look anything like this rendering? We don't, as it should be way sexier.
