To properly celebrate 60 years since Aston Martin's first appearance in a James Bond movie, the DB12 'super tourer' gets the 007 treatment courtesy of Q by Aston Martin, not the fictional Q.
The James Bond series was created in 1953 by writer Ian Fleming across twelve novels and two short-story collections and focuses on a fictional British Secret Service agent as the titular character. Since Fleming passed away, no less than eight other authors have written about Bond, but truth be told, the 007 agent is worldwide famous thanks to its movie adaptations.

No less than twenty-seven film adaptations have been released since 1962, all but two made by Eon Productions, and the character has been played by actors Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig. However, there's one element that links all of them even further – Aston Martin cars.

More precisely, James Bond drove one of their cars in no less than twelve 007 films, appearing in more movies than any of the human actors: Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), The Living Daylights (1987), GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), Die Another Day (2002), Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and No Time to Die (2021).

Well, it's been three years since the last Hollywood installment already, and if you're feeling nostalgic about James Bond, then know that Aston Martin is trying to take away the glamor of the 2024 Paris Motor Show with help from the Q by Aston Martin DB12 Goldfinger Edition. It celebrates six decades of partnership between Aston and Eon – and it all started in 1964 with the now-famous Aston Martin DB5 featuring an array of bespoke features and spy tricks.

In 2021, when Daniel Craig last appeared as James Bond (007) in No Time to Die (where his character actually died, sic!), he brought full circle to the Aston Martin trope by using a heavily modified DB5 during an iconic chase and fight sequence. It's one of the best out there, by the way, and worth revisiting from time to time.

Anyway, now the one-percenters can get behind the wheel of the Q by Aston Martin DB12 Goldfinger Edition if they want to feel like a secret agent. The 680-ps twin-turbo V8-powered grand tourer provides a more indulgent James Bond driving experience - iconic Silver Birch paint color, 21-inch silver wheels, black brake calipers, unique gold side strakes, and a bespoke Aston Martin logo in silver with black enamel.

There's also a bright chrome 'Q' fender badge to round out the exterior additions, and inside, the 'super tourer' has leather Sports Plus seats finished with DB5 fluted style and Prince of Wales check perforation pattern. The latter is also used on the door inserts and the headliner, plus the bespoke treadplate. There are also 18k gold-plated accents, a Goldfinger 60th anniversary logo, and gold metal fibers woven into the 2X2 Twill Gloss Carbon Fiber trim. There are only 60 cars as part of this special edition series.

“The relationship between Aston Martin and the James Bond franchise is something that is always treasured”, said Marco Mattiacci, Global Chief Brand and Commercial Officer. “It is an incredible occasion to be able to recognise six decades of this partnership with an extraordinary special edition, and pay homage to the very first - and perhaps most famous Aston Martin Bond car."
