It's not often that you witness a Corvette get the checkered flag second in a drag race after a European competitor, but then again, here we are. Much like a certain someone from the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight (no spoilers), the American sports car put up a great fight but couldn't hold a candle to its opponent. Also, the Corvette isn't the only nameplate to go against Audi; more Chevy surprise races await.
The first race from the "Drag Racing and Car Stuff" video takes place at the New England Dragway & Motorsports Park in Epping, New Hampshire, Rockingham County. It's between an Audi RS 7 Sportback (2013-2019) and a Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z06 (2014-2019).

While the Vette won the start, it ultimately and quite painfully lost the race to the RS 7. The Chevy sportscar crossed the 1/4-mile finish line in 12.7 seconds at 123.5 mph, while the Audi did it in 11.2 ticks at 124.4 mph. In Europe, that's 199 kph for the former and 200 kph for the latter.

With a 4.0-liter TFSI twin-turbo V8 that generates 553 hp and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of twist, the AWD Audi RS 7 Sportback was basically a supercar disguised as a fastback four-door coupe. It reached 62 mph (100 kph) in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 174 mph (280 kph).

The RWD Corvette C7 had a 6.2-liter V8 that produced 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft or 881 Nm of torque. It went from 0 to 62 mph or 100 kph in 3.7 seconds. Its max speed was 196 mph or 315 kilometers per hour. On paper, the Audi should have lost, but odds are that it went under the hammer. If we compare them to their 2024 counterparts, things get ridiculous.

The luxurious 2025 Audi RS 7 performance starts from $128,600 and can hit 60 mph in 3.3 seconds due to its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 powerplant that makes 621 hp and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. The top speed is an astounding 155 mph or 249.4 kph, which has been electronically limited to obey US laws.

The 2024 Corvette Z06 is a thing of beauty and speed. With a starting MSRP of $111,795 for the 1LZ trim, this purebred American beast can unleash 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft (624 Nm) of twist at the rear wheels.

The power comes from its 5.5-liter V8 DI high-output flat plane crank 8,600 RPM redline engine. Chevrolet boasts that if you equip the extra $9K Z07 Performance Package, you can hit 60 miles per hour from a standstill in just 2.6 seconds.

However, if you want something that looks as amazing as the '24 Z06 but is much cheaper, you can opt for the 2025 Corvette Stingray, which starts at nearly $70,000 in the United States. It cages a 6.2-liter V8 mill that generates 490 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque with the standard package.

According to Chevy, if you equip the Z51 Performance Package, the Stingray produces 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. In terms of speed, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds.

At the end of the day, it's a "to each their own" kind of situation between the Audi RS 7 and Corvette because they're so radically different. And speaking of different, don't miss the rest of the drag races in the video below. Other high-performance Audi models battle a C6, a C7, and a Camaro.
