Four years after the launch of the third generation of the C4 lineup, Citroën refreshed the vehicle and unveiled it at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, continuing the successful story of this unusual model.
While the C4 nameplate appeared on the market in 2002 as a compact hatchback, the third iteration of this moniker broke cover in 2020 as a compact crossover with a coupe shape. It was still a hatchback but an unusual-looking one. It was something the customers craved: a coupe-styled crossover that didn't break the bank like other offerings from premium car manufacturers. Unfortunately, the car was launched during the world pandemic, affecting production. However, after the lockdown, sales rocketed, and the C4 and its C4 X sibling climbed on the success ladder to the segment's second position. But fast forward four years, and at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, on its home ground, Citroën launched the refreshed version of the C4 lineup.
The facelifted 2024 Citroën C4 had a redesigned front fascia. One of the most obvious updates was the logo, which was a reinterpretation of the one that the carmaker had between 1939 and 1959, albeit with a chromed double-chevron instead of yellow. Citroën created fresh LED headlights for the C4 and installed new daytime running lights that consisted of four blocks on each side: one line above the headlamps, two below them, and a third vertical one in the bumper. In addition, the car's apron featured a broad center air intake in the middle.
From its profile, the 2024 Citroën C4 boasted its new wheels available with up to 18 inches in diameter. They had a diamond-cut finish, with black and shiny metal around. The flared wheel arches looked similar to the ones offered on the non-facelifted version of the car. However, the car boasted a particular difference in comparison to the 2020 version. Below the rear doors, on the side sills, the automaker integrated a horizontal colored slat, and customers could personalize it. Like its C4 X stablemate, the C4 had a coupe-shaped greenhouse featuring a rounded roofline that was followed by a sloped tailgate at the back. Even though it didn't inspire a true sportscar's fastback shape, it still looked sportier than most crossovers in its class.
Inside, the French automaker focused on passengers' comfort. Along with the refreshed version, the 2025 Citroën C4 X had new seats with thicker foam padding for improved onboard comfort. In addition, the driver's chair featured lumbar and height adjustment. The redesigned dashboard featured a new seven-inch digital instrument cluster fronting the driver. In addition, a ten-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system that supported both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay sat atop the center stack. The new unit was available with ChatGPT integration along with the Connectivity-Plus pack. In the back, the split-folding bench seat could increase the trunk size from 380 liters (13.2 cu-ft) to 1,250 liters (44,2 cu-ft), respectively.
Under the hood, the French automaker installed a range of mild-hybrid and electric drivetrains that powered the front wheels. The base version of the 2025 Citroën C4 X was motivated by a new 1.2-liter 100 PS (99 hp) engine, which was also helped by a 21 kW (28 hp) motor. Moving up the scale, the car was available with a 136 PS (135 hp) featuring the same electric motor as well. On the battery-electric versions, the crossover coupe was available with a choice of 110 and 115 kW (148 hp and 154 hp) motors, offering 355 km (221 miles) or 415 km (258 miles) of range, respectively.
Information about this model's engines has not been yet made public, but we will add it as soon as the car is launched or more data becomes available
