Citroën released the refreshed version of its largest crossover coupe on its home ground at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, proving that the French automaker was determined to grow its impact on the market.
The C4 nameplate started as a humble, European compact-sized hatchback that followed in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Xsara. However, by the time the car reached its third generation in 2020, it had evolved into a range of crossovers, the C4 and the C4 X, respectively. While the former aimed at customers looking for a sedan-like vehicle with higher ground clearance, the latter was penned with a more pronounced fastback shape and an extended rear overhang, resulting in a sportier-looking car. Citroën unveiled the facelifted duo on its territory at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, and the C4 X immediately attracted customers’ attention to it.
At the front, the 2024 Citroën C4 X looked like its non-X stablemate. It featured the same four LED daytime running lights: one above the headlights, two horizontal lines on the upper side of the wrapped-around plastic bumper, and finally, a vertical one placed on the apron, flanking the lower air intake. However, the most noticeable visual upgrade was for the brand’s badge, which took center stage on the upper grille. It was taller and resembled the one that Citroën had between 1939 and 1959: an oval shield with the chromed double-chevron element on it.
From its profile, the 2024 Citroën C4 X boasted its higher ground clearance than a regular fastback sedan and its new 18-inch alloy wheels with a diamond-cut finish. In addition, the raked windshield was continued by the same rounded roof as on the non-facelifted version. However, the French automaker added a new tiny element on the black side sills under the rear doors that could be ordered in various colors, which was also echoed by other trims on the front bumper. Unlike its non-X stablemate, the unusually looking crossover hatchback had a smoother, more coupe-like shaped tailgate. At the back, the LED taillights echoed the design of the front daytime running lights, featuring clear horizontal lines. Flanking the broad tailgate were the flat shoulders that offered the vehicle a more muscular stance.
Inside, the French automaker focused on passengers’ comfort. Along with the refreshed version, the 2025 Citroën C4 X had new seats with thicker foam padding for improved onboard comfort. In addition, the driver’s chair featured lumbar and height adjustment. The redesigned dashboard featured a new seven-inch digital instrument cluster fronting the driver. In addition, a ten-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system that supported both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay sat atop the center stack. The new unit was available with ChatGPT integration along with the Connectivity-Plus pack. In the back, the automaker installed a bench seat with a 27 degrees backrest tilt.
Under the hood, the French automaker installed a range of mild-hybrid and electric drivetrains that powered the front wheels. The base version of the 2025 Citroën C4 X was motivated by a new 1.2-liter 100 PS (99 hp) engine, which was also helped by a 21 kW (28 hp) motor. Moving up the scale, the car was available with a 136 PS (135 hp) featuring the same electric motor as well. On the battery-electric versions, the crossover coupe was available with a choice of 110 and 115 kW (148 hp and 154 hp) motors, offering 360 km (224 miles) or 425 km (264 miles) of range, respectively.
Information about this model's engines has not been yet made public, but we will add it as soon as the car is launched or more data becomes available
