While all eyes are on the impending Ferrari F80 versus McLaren W1 PHEV hypercar duel and wondering if the lighter 1,064-horsepower C8 Chevy Corvette ZR1 can vanquish them both at a fraction of the cost, life goes on as always for the 'mainstream' models like the Ferrari SF90 Stradale.
Of course, from time to time, they also need some pampering – a tune here, a custom treatment there, and they're ready for primetime once more. The Ferrari SF90 Stradale was introduced by the Prancing Horse brand in 2019 as the mid-engine PHEV flagship sports car of the lineup and as a tribute to the SF90 Formula One car – the number 90 stood for the nine decades of the Scuderia Ferrari racing team.
It was the pinnacle of plug-in hybrid and V8 turbo technology at the time and a model that toyed with a higher output than the Ferrari LaFerrari hypercar – without being the ultimate member of the family. As such, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale offered 986 horsepower via three electric motors and the 4.0-liter F154 FA twin-turbo V8 mill, enough to sprint to 62 mph (100 kph) in 2.5 seconds, to 124 mph (200 kph) in 6.7 seconds, and then top out at 211 mph or 340 kph.
However, since it came out five years ago, there was plenty of time for rivals to prepare a response – and Lamborghini did just that in early 2023 when it announced the successor to the beloved Aventador. Its new flagship mid-engine plug-in hybrid sports car retained the company's iconic V12 with 6.5 liters of displacement and natural aspiration. But it also bundled it with three of its electric motors for a grand total of 1,015 combined horsepower – just a shade above the Ferrari SF90 Stradale.
Alas, that doesn't mean folks don't love the Prancing Horse anymore – including horse guys. Someone who loves both real horses (hence the RS floor mats with custom logo) and Ferrari prancing horses decided recently they needed a Ferrari SF90 Stradale and approached the good folks over at Road Show International to make the custom dream come true.
Now we can check out the result – an example that isn't crimson on the outside but rather on the inside. As such, the exterior is dressed in Pearl Bianco, whereas the cockpit is bathed in Rosso leather. Because it's an RS Edition, this time around, there's also a complete exhaust system swap, and that gives the SF90 Stradale an extra 50 horsepower for a Lamborghini Revuelto-beating combined total of 1,036 ponies. As such, the aftermarket outlet claims the new time for the 62-mph sprint has been reduced to just 2.3 seconds.
Additionally, the other RS Edition goodies include – besides the exhaust and special logos on the floor mats – an RS Smoke exterior lighting package, an RS audio system with subwoofer, RS nano-ceramic window tint plus windshield, a gloss PPF package, as well as ceramic paint coating protection, among others. So, what do you think? Would you rather bring to your dream garage something like this or are you favoring Team Lamborghini and fancy a Revuelto instead?
