America may brag about having some great machines for drag racing, but Europe is not that far behind either, especially if we account for some hot models that have been visited by the tuning fairy, like this magnificent Audi R8.
At first glance, it may look like your run-of-the-mill German supercar with Italian DNA. However, it's far more than that, as it has a neck-snapping amount of power on tap. As is usually the case with naturally aspirated engines, this model's 5.2L V10 has been twin-turbocharged. This, combined with additional other work that has gone into the oily bits, has made it a true force to be reckoned with and an extreme sprinter.
The video you are about to watch (at the bottom of the page) reveals that the Audi R8 in question, a 2020 model, has no fewer than 2,800 horses running wild beneath still great-to-look-at skin. Laying down all that power can be tricky, which is why it won't blow your mind from 0 to 60 mph (97 kph). This sprint was recorded in 3.19 seconds, and it took another 2.67 seconds to reach 130 mph (209 kph) from 60. The 0-130 mph (209 kph) acceleration took 5.87 seconds during the run.

Is that still not plenty to impress you? How does less than two seconds from 100 to 150 mph (161-241 kph) sound? Or 4.64 seconds from 100 to 200 mph (161-322 kph)? This brutal exotic beast ran the quarter mile in the Dodge Demon 170 territory at 8.83 seconds, with an exit speed of 196.77 mph (316.67 kph). It also set a new half-mile record in Europe by completing it in 12.84 seconds, at 245.39 mph (394.92 kph).
Given these insane numbers, this heavily modified Audi R8 can laugh in the face of the entire modern-day supercar establishment in a straight-line sprint. Heck, it could also humiliate some real hypercars, and it can also teach an important lesson to Dodge Demons, Shelby GT500s, Camaro ZL1s, and C8 Corvettes. Sure, these have far fewer horses roaming wild beneath the skin than the R8 in question, and most people cannot even comprehend what it means to unleash 2,800 of them at the crank upon a heavy push of the right pedal.
