It would have been a terrible mistake not to offer the U.S. version of the 2024 Ranger without the Raptor flavor since the rest of the world had already got it since 2022, but Ford didn't do that; it waited for it to make it better.
While Europeans, Australians, and other continents got the Ranger in 2022 powered by diesel engines, the Americans didn't want that. So, in 2023, Ford introduced the U.S. version of the Raptor fitted with a 3.0-liter turbocharged gasoline powerplant. But that was not the only upgrade that Ranger Raptor got.
They say not to judge a book by its covers, but in this case, the Raptor's skin showed that it was a rugged off-road machine. Its front fascia fitted with LED headlights, the broad grille that proudly boasted FORD lettering on it, and the aluminum shield underneath the bumper were no jokes. From its sides, the 33" BF Goodrich tires wrapped around 17" light-alloy wheels were not just for the look but for their maximum grip. All-wheel arches sported plastic over fenders that covered the wider vehicle's track compared to the regular 2024 Ranger. At the back, the pickup featured a standard step integrated into the rear bumper.
Inside, Ford installed a pair of high-bolstered front seats separated by a tall center console. Thus, their occupants were firmly kept in place. Inside the instrument cluster, the automaker installed a 12.4" LCD. Atop the center stack, it placed a 12-inch touchscreen that ran the latest SYNC 4A infotainment system, which was Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible with wireless connectivity. The bench seat was profiled for two in the back with a tall seatback and integrated headrests. Apart from these upgrades, the Raptor also boasted six pre-installed switches on an overhead console so that customers could add other external features, such as light bars or winches.
But the most significant upgrade was under its skin. The 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 under the hood sent its power in all corners via a ten-speed automatic transmission and a low-range transfer case. In addition, the Raptor also boasted front and rear diff-locks and a specific suspension made by Fox.
