For reasons that haven't been properly explained by science, kids, no matter if they're boys or girls, love cars. It doesn't really matter what cars – they can be daily drivers, racers, toys – as long as they have wheels that spin, they'll get the job of entertaining younglings done. And there are even studies showing that's so.
A couple of months ago the world learned of the first official partnership between one of the world's largest toymakers, LEGO (a producer of an incredibly large number of plastic bricks cars), and Formula 1, the competition where some of our civilization's greatest machines can be seen at work.

Both LEGO and Formula 1 are behemoths in their respective field, so it's not entirely clear who will benefit from the partnership the most, but what matters is the fact that the tie-up is based on studies that reveal over four million kids aged eight to 12 are constantly watching F1 races. On top of that, almost half of Formula 1's followers on Instagram are under 25.

There have been times in the past when LEGO tried to tap into the exciting world of Formula 1, but what comes our way next year is unprecedented: there will be LEGO toys for each and every one of the ten teams competing in Formula 1, related toys in other LEGO product families, fan activation zones at Grand Prix races around the world, and dedicated content on social media platforms.

When the deal was announced back in September we were not told all that many things about what to expect, but as the Las Vegas Grand Prix is about to get going this weekend in Sin City, we finally got all the details we need to start planning our next LEGO buy. Here they all are.

LEGO Duplo F1 Set

I said earlier there are millions of kids aged over eight years old that regularly watch F1 races, but that's not to say LEGO can't target even younger ones. So here comes the Duplo Town F1 Team Race Cars & Drivers set, meant for kids over two years old.

Comprising just 70 pieces, the set can help youngsters recreate Grand Prix weekends by allowing them access to a starting grid, a podium, two cars, and two drivers. The finished product can be customized to mirror any of the ten F1 teams. The set will become available on January 1, 2025, and it will sell for $44,99.

LEGO City F1 Sets

The LEGO range that's meant to represent plastic brick replicas of our world gets no less than six distinct sets of F1-related toys. Each of them is meant to "recreate race weekend scenarios from vehicle transport and repairs in the team garage to the race start and even super speedy pit stops."

The six LEGO City F1 sets are the following:

  • LEGO City F1 Williams Racing & Haas F1 Race Cars – 92 pieces, $19,99, available on January 1, 2025
  • LEGO City F1 Grid with VCARB & Sauber Race Cars – 313 pieces, $29.99, available on January 1, 2025
  • LEGO City F1 Driver with McLaren Race Car - 86 pieces, $12.99, available on January 1, 2025
  • LEGO City F1 Pit Stop & Pit Crew with Ferrari Car - 322 pieces, $29.99, available on January 1, 2025
  • LEGO City F1 Garage & Mercedes-AMG & Alpine Cars - 678 pieces, $79.99, available on January 1, 2025
  • LEGO City F1 Truck with RB20 & AMR24 F1 Cars – 1,086 pieces, $99.99, available on January 1, 2025

LEGO Speed Champions F1 Sets

As it's natural, the actual Formula 1 race cars are honored by the toymaker in the mighty Speed Champions range. It is here where all ten vehicles currently doing the rounds on tracks around the world will be celebrated, in the proper liveries and with the proper accessories.

On top of all of the above, LEGO will also offer some F1-related items in the Collectibles range. On its end, Formula 1 will celebrate the partnership with specially branded show cars.

As for the real-world races, just three of them are left in this season, the Las Vegas GP included. Next year, the competition will celebrate its 75th anniversary, and it will do so in a season that comprises a total of 24 races. The fun begins on March 16 in Australia, because the regular inaugural races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia have been pushed to April to mark the Arab world's Ramadan.
