The all-new Aston Martin stole the spotlight in a star-studded event in Venice. George Clooney, Daniel Craig, and Michael Douglas came to see the official unveiling of the new V12-powered flagship sports car.
The English brand chose the moment of the official unveiling well. It happened during the Venice International Film Festival. So, an audience that included cinema, arts, fashion, and business icons gathered at the Marina Militare for the grand premiere to see the all-new Aston Martin Vanquish. Five Academy Award-winning actors were there.
George Clooney and his wife Amal dazzled at the world premiere of the Vanquish, joining Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Douglas, Kevin Costner, and Adrien Brody.
It is, after all, the year Aston Martin celebrates its 60th anniversary of association with the James Bond franchise. So, the latest 007, Daniel Craig, was also there, alongside British stars Joe Alwyn and Michael Ward and American actresses Haley Bennet and Caillee Spaeny.
BAFTA award-winning director Joe Wright and actor and filmmaker Joel Edgerton joined the exclusive reunion. Models Bianca Brandolini and Poppy Delevingne kept company to the three-time Academy Award-winning costume designer Sandy Powell on the night of the Aston Martin Vanquish premiere.
And it wasn't just Hollywood A-listers that arrived at the Aston Martin party. The brand's Formula One drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso were there in the flash to reveal the car, just 24 hours after the chequered flag at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, some 166 miles (267 kilometers) west of Venice.
The setting for the premiere was the Arsenale di Venezia. The Arsenale was the largest production center in Venice during the pre-industrial era. There were times when up to 2,000 worked there per day during the Middle Ages. Each contributed working by hand to the fleets of La Serenissima.
Now, it operates as a base for the Italian Navy and is the venue that hosts the Venice Biennale international art exhibition, which also marks its 60th edition this year.
All the stars gathered to see the all-new Aston Martin Vanquish for the first time. The car englobes 111 years of experience on the market and follows in the footsteps of the spectacular launch events of the DB12 in May 2023 at the amfAR Gala in Cannes and the Vantage in February 2024 at Silverstone, alongside the Aston Martin's 2024 Formula One car.
The Aston Martin Vanquish stands as the automaker's highest-performance sports car. It is also the most exclusive of the pack. Only 1,000 examples per year will roll off the production line of the factory in Gaydon, England. The car is the only one in the brand's portfolio to receive a bespoke Aston Martin-developed 12-cylinder engine. The V12 pumps out 824 horsepower (835 metric horsepower) and 737 pound-feet (1,000 Newton meters) of torque.
Those are the parameters that make the car flash from 0-60 mph (0-97 kph) in 3.2 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 214 mph (344 km/h). An eight-speed automatic transmission puts the power down through the rear wheels. Now, that sounds like a future James Bond car.
The Vanquish comes with quite a reputation. Since its launch in 2001, the model has been a cinema star, showing up alongside James Bond in the 2002 film "Die Another Day." It also made appearances in "Lara Croft: Tom Raider" and "The Italian Job."
