INDIAN Chief Vintage LE (2013-2013) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2013, the American motorcycle maker introduced the Indian Chief Vintage LE, a limited edition motorcycle created for nostalgic riders who also enjoy one-of-a-kind machines. It was sold at an MSRP of $37,900.

Indian was an American motorcycle manufacturer owned by Polaris Inc. It was founded in 1901 and as the Hendee Manufacturing Company in 1987 by George M. Hendee to produce bicycles.

The 2013 Vintage LE was a machine with a classic two-tone Pearl White and Thunder Black paint scheme, chromed highway pegs, arrow-styled shift rods, a quick-detach passenger backrest, and a luggage rack.

In the visual department, the motorcycle had features such as deeply valanced fenders covering half of the chromed wire-spoke wheels, a tall windscreen, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a two-piece dual brown leather seat with a matching pillion backrest, a luggage rack, brown leather saddlebags, and a chromed two-into-one exhaust system.

The bike was made around a high-tensile steel frame. It housed a 41 mm telescopic fork on the front with 108 mm of travel and a single shock on the rear with 73 mm wheel travel.

Two 292 mm brake discs on the front and a single 292 mm rotor on the rear achieved braking power. Hydraulic calipers clamped both front and rear discs.

Power-wise, the 2013 Indian Chief Vintage LE's heartbeat was set by a 1,720cc four-stroke air-cooled V-twin powerhouse paired with a six-speed transmission. The bike delivered 140 Nm (103 lb-ft) to the rear wheel through a low-maintenance final belt.
