Former NFL defensive end JJ Watt shows up in Ram's latest advertising campaign, towing a trailer and speaking about lifting people. Watt also promotes his foundation, which offers funding to sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade after-school athletic programs.
The new film is the 32nd "Wiser" spot, this time starring football superstar JJ Watt, is included in the brand's "The Calling" campaign. It focuses on JJ Watts' activity as a foundation founder and president, providing financial assistance to after-school athletic programs and organizations across the US.
"As I grew older, I grew wiser," JJ says in the video. "I realized that life is not about how many people you can knock down. It's about how many people you can lift up," he explains.
Ram is an official sponsor of the College Football Playoff. That is where things took off for JJ Watt. He played college football for the Central Michigan Chippewas and Wisconsin Badgers before being selected by the Texas in the first round of the 2011 NFL draft.
In the 30-second video, JJ Watt drives the 2025 Ram 1500 Limited, which is powered by the new High-Output 3.0-liter Hurricane. The straight-six engine pumps out 540 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of torque for a run from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. That makes it 2.2 seconds quicker than its predecessor powered by the 6.2-liter HEMI supercharged V8.
Raj Register, Chief Marketing Officer for Stellantis North America, says Watt is one of the Ram owners who drive their truck to help build a better today and tomorrow.
Considered to be one of the greatest defensive linemen of all time, JJ Watt is still looked up to by young athletes who dream of building a career in football even two years after retirement. He is an example of ambition and strength. He suffered from atrial fibrillation on September 28, 2022, but returned to the field and eventually retired at 33 at the end of the season.
He set the base for the JJ Foundation in 2010, raising over one million dollars. His foundation's motto is "Dream Big, Work Hard." He also raised over $37 million to help Houston recover from Hurricane Harvey in August 2017. A year later, he paid for the funerals of the eight students and two teachers killed in the Santa Fe High School shooting.
"I've been extremely fortunate throughout my life to have so many great people help me along the way. I'm grateful to the Ram brand for highlighting this work and helping us deliver on our mission," JJ says.
The "Wiser" spot advertising for the 2025 Ram 1500 will be shown on Ram's social media channels as well as on television. The campaign also advertises for the Ram 2500/3500 and the Ram ProMaster van.
