KTM 250 EXC (2005-2006) Specs, Performance & Photos

KTM is an Austrian motorcycle maker known for its off-road motorcycles. In the late 1990s, the company expanded its range into street motorcycles and sports cars like the KTM X-Bow.

The Austrian motorcycle maker released the 2005 KTM 250 EXC, a quarter-liter two-stroke off-road motorcycle that came in a lightweight, affordable, and easy-to-maintain package. It was sold at an MSRP of $6,400.

The motorcycle was characterized by standard fittings, such as wire-spoke wheels with off-road tires and black-finished rims, a raised front mudguard, a small headlight, a single seat, and a single exhaust system with a muffler placed high on the right-hand side.

It was manufactured around a Chromium-Molybdenum frame that housed the suspension system. The system consisted of a 48 mm WP-USD fork on the front and a WP-PDS shock absorber on the rear with 335 mm wheel travel.

For braking power, the rolled on a 21-inch front wheel fitted with a 260 mm brake disc and an 18-inch rear wheel assisted by a 220 mm rotor. Both front and rear discs were clamped by hydraulic calipers, providing excellent stopping power.

The 2005 KTM 250 EXC derived its muscle from a 249cc two-stroke liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that delivered 17 hp with maximum strength at 7,400 rpm. The engine was fed by a PWK Kihin carburetor, and the power was controlled by a six-speed manual gearbox.
