MAGNI Sfida 1000 4V (1998-1999) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 1998, the Italian motorcycle maker introduced the Magni Sfida 1000 4V, Sfida being challenge in Italian. The bike packed the 992cc Moto Guzzi Daytona and a monoshock version of the parallelogram rear suspension.

Magni is a well-known Italian motorcycle maker. In 1947, Arturo Magni began his career in the Gilera racing department, working with Piero Remor, the engineer of the famous four-cylinder Gilera racing engine.

Arturo Magni joined the MV Agusta racing department in 1950, where he stayed for over twenty years until 1977. Managing MV Reparto Corsa, the racers John Surtees, Mike Hailwood, Provini, Ubbiali, and Giacomo Agostini won 75 world championships and over 3,000 races, underlining Magni's increasing power.

The bike's visual department was complemented by features such as a front fairing with a round headlight and a curved windscreen, a single seat, a dual exhaust system with a silencer on each side, and wire-spoke wheels.

The 1998 Magni Sfida 1000 4V was powered by a 992cc four-stroke V-twin air-cooled engine that delivered an output power of 85 hp at 7,500 rpm and 82 Nm (61 lb-ft) torque.

The engine's power was sent to a five-speed manual transmission controlled by a wet multi-plate clutch and redirected to the rear wheel via a final chain drive.

For braking power, the motorcycle's wheels were fitted with two 320 mm discs on the front clamped by four-pot calipers and a 230 mm disc on the rear assisted by a two-pot caliper.
