MAICO Supermoto 685 (2003-2014) Specs, Performance & Photos

Maico is a German motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1926. Although the company had built multiple light bikes before World War II, it introduced its first bike, equipped with a Maico engine, just after the end of the war. This model recorded an impressive success, which led the company to release the M model in 1948 and the 125 a year later.

After experiencing many financial problems in 1983, Maicowerk AG continued to manufacture only a small number of motocross and enduro motorcycles, mostly known in the USA under the M-Stars name.

One of many machines in Maico's range was the 2003 Maico Supermoto 685, an enduro/off-road motorcycle characterized by blacked-out components like the seat, panels, frame, and front mudguard.

The motorcycle had features like a high-mounted front fender, hand guards, a single seat, a single exhaust system with a muffler mounted high on the left-hand side, a side stand, and wire-spoke wheels.

The Chrome-Molybdenum frame was suspended on a 50 mm White Power Extreme telescopic fork on the front with 305 mm travel and a Maico twin link shock on the rear with 320 mm travel.

The motorcycle's wire-spoke wheels were fitted with a 320 mm rotor on the front assisted by a four-pot caliper and a 220 mm disc on the rear clamped by a single-pot caliper, providing excellent braking performance.

The 2003 Maico Supermoto 685 had installed a 616cc two-stroke single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine at its core, boasting 80 hp.
