MIDUAL Type 1 (2016-2017) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2016, the French motorcycle maker released the Midual Type 1, a stylish naked machine produced in small numbers. In the first series, the maker made 16 models and 35 units per year afterward.

It still used the flat-twin engine but was repeatedly redesigned. The bike consisted of 1,393 parts and had exceptional details and finishes. The Type 1 was marketed at $169,400.

Since he was 14, Olivier Midy has liked motorcycles a lot. If, at the beginning, he was just an old bike collector, in the end, he managed to make his own dream motorcycle come true. His company in Anjou specialized in research and development for car lights and connections, but at the same time, Olivier was trying to create a European bike.

He started developing his first bike in 1992, using a water-cooled 900cc flat twin engine that produced 90 horses. He found a partner, François Midy, and the adventure of the 900cc Roadster began. He designed the machine, developed the project, and prepared the field for the Midual Roadster. It is a long-term industrial project that still writes its pages.

The 2016 Midual Type 1's 1,036cc flat-twin engine was mounted into a double-wall aluminum alloy monocoque frame. It boasts 106 hp, peaking at 8,200 rpm, and 94 Nm (69 lb-ft) torque at 5,500 rpm.
