Here's a question that probably hasn't crossed your mind unless you have a soft spot for two specific yet rather different vehicles: Which is faster in a straight-line sprint between an Infiniti Q50 Red Sport and a Chevrolet Nova?
You're a few paragraphs away from finding out the answer, as the two rides recently went head-to-head down the quarter mile with the intention of crossing the finish line as quickly as possible. The race was recorded by the owner of the Japanese sports sedan, who used a 360-degree camera, and toward the end of the clip, you will also see footage from a bystander that reveals the 1/4-mile time.

First things first, let's remind ourselves about the Infiniti Q50, starting with the fact that it’s no longer in production. The model was discontinued at the end of the 2024MY, and the decision is official. The reason behind its killing is money, as the company only sold 6,201 units in 2023, 4,780 in 2022, and 13,894 the year before. By pulling the plug on the Q50, Infiniti no longer has a traditional passenger car, as its US lineup only comprises crossovers and SUVs.

Second, let's talk about the power, as the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport was and still is a punchy model. It uses a 3.0-liter V6 engine with dual turbos and does 0-60 mph (0-97 kph) in just four and a half seconds aided by the 350 pound-foot (375 Nm) and 400 horsepower (406 ps/299 kW) unleashed at a hard push of the right pedal. That may not be enough to pose a threat to Dodge Hellcats, but this 2017 model is said to have received a huge amount of upgrades.

You are probably curious about how fast it is with the extras up and running, and the answer is relatively simple: we don't know. However, we can assume that it has a neck-snapping amount of thrust channeled to the wheels, as it is a ten-second car down the quarter mile. This example posted 10.298 seconds with an exit speed of 136.69 mph (220 kph) during the 1/4-mile battle against the Chevy Nova, which we got the chance to briefly see in the short video shared below.

The latter machine is said to feature a small-block unit under the hood, and that's all we know about it. Still, it needs to be very darn fast if it dreams of keeping up with the crazy Infiniti Q50 that it met at the Cecil County Dragway in Maryland. We won't reveal the big winner of this drag race, but we will tell you that the loser got absolutely humiliated, as there was a gap so big between the two that real estate developers could turn into a massive profit.
