MONDIAL SMX 125 (2017-2018) Specs, Performance & Photos

One year after the Hipster 125 was introduced, the Italian manufacturer introduced the 2017 Mondial SMX 125, an enduro/off-road motorcycle created to tackle the harsh conditions of unpaved roads.

The bike was visually characterized by features like a high-mounted front fender, a small headlight, a one-piece dual seat, a single exhaust system with a silencer mounted under the seat, and wire-spoke wheels wrapped in off-road tires.

FB-Mondial is an Italian motorcycle manufacturer that produced bikes for at least 31 years between 1948 and 1979. The company was founded in 1929 when the four Boselli brothers founded FB. FB stands for Fratelli Boselli, a company that only manufactures and sells bikes and tricycles.

Although the company was mostly interested in racing motorcycles, it also manufactured multiple appreciated roadsters, such as the 125cc four-stroke bike released in 1950. The company became famous thanks to the competitions it participated in after the 1957 season, but the four brothers quit the company due to financial problems.

For suspension, the motorcycle packed a 41 mm USD fork on the front end with 257 mm of travel and a single shock absorber on the rear with 207 mm of travel.

For braking, the motorcycle's wheels were fitted with a single 240 mm floating disc on the front clamped by a dual-piston caliper and a single 220 mm floating disc on the rear with a single-piston caliper.

As for power, the 2017 Mondial SMX 125 packed a 124cc four-stroke air-cooled single-cylinder engine at its core, boasting 13 hp at 9,750 rpm and 11 Nm (8 lb-ft) torque at 8,000 rpm.
