MOTUS MST 1650 (2014-2018) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2014, the American motorcycle maker released the Motorhispania MST 1650, a sports-touring motorcycle manufactured from 2014 to 2018 in Birmingham, Alabama. It was powered by a 90-degree pushrod V4 engine, the first V4 unit used on an American bike.

The visual department was characterized by a half fairing, a large windscreen, a one-piece dual seat, passenger grab rails, a dual exhaust system with a muffler on each side, and six-spoke aluminum alloy wheels.

In addition, the motorcycle was available with optional equipment, such as a 30-liter top case, a mid- and full-touring windscreen, a heated seat and grips, a premium Motus low seat by Sargent, and side-mounted panniers.

For power, the 2014 Motus MST 1650 had installed a 1,645cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V4 engine under the fuel tank. The engine was fed by a fuel injection system and boasted 165 hp with maximum strength at 7,600 rpm and 167 Nm (123 lb-ft) torque at 5,000 rpm.

After a long ride in 2007, Brian Case and Lee Conn, motorcycle buddies turned business partners, had a casual conversation about their idea of the ultimate motorcycle for the long, spirited rides they preferred through the Appalachian mountains of the South. Both are diehard motorcycle enthusiasts who have owned several other motorcycles.

They quickly realized their ideal motorcycle didn't exist then; neither was that style made by any American manufacturer. In 2012, Motus finished testing the prototypes MST-01 and MSTR-01 and applied what they learned from them to building production machines.
