Nissan introduced the seventh generation of the Patrol in the fall of 2024, and the full-size SUV boasted an impressive range of attractive features for those looking for a seven-seat vehicle able to tackle serious off-road trails.
The Patrol was one of Nissan's oldest nameplates in its inventory since the first generation of this moniker appeared on the market in 1951. While that model was mostly a utilitarian vehicle fit for farmers and army purposes, the seventh generation was a different kind of animal. It was luxurious, powerful, and capable of conquering difficult off-road trails. However, customers were surprised to find that the 2025 Nissan Patrol was no longer available with a V8 under its hood but with a choice of six-cylinder engines. But still, the performance it provided was more than what the sixth generation could offer. The full-size SUV boasted pneumatic suspension, a new and reinforced chassis, and advanced technologies that helped customers when driving in or around town or in remote areas.
At the front, the big, brawny SUV featured a reversed-trapezoidal grille flanked by a set of vertical headlights featuring C-shaped daytime running lights. As expected for such a luxurious vehicle, these had LED technology. Lower, integrated into the bumper, the automaker placed a black horizontal stripe adorned by chromed trims surrounding the horizontal LED fog lamps. The flat and tall front fascia had a commanding look on the road.
From its profile, the 2025 Nissan Patrol had a tall waistline with almost flat door panels. At the same time, the front and rear fenders featured slightly flared wheel arches to cover the big wheels wrapped in all-terrain or summer tires. A set of running boards, or side steps, were fitted as standard and eased ingress and egress to the high-riser vehicle. Nissan also installed a set of vertical, triangular vents on the front fenders to emphasize the car's sporty look. Furthermore, a roof spoiler extended the already long roof of the vehicle. Out back, Nissan placed C-shaped LED taillights that flanked the tailgate and were visually connected via a red light stripe that ran across the entire car's width.
Inside, customers found a luxurious and high-tech cabin. Fronting the driver was a wide glass panel that covered a pair of 14.3-inch displays. The one fronting the driver was for the instrument panel, while the one placed atop the center stack was the touchscreen for the infotainment system. Between the leather-clad front seats with heating and cooling functions, Nissan placed a broad center console with several storage areas. In addition, a cubby was placed under the armrest. The three-row SUV was fitted with seven seats on a 2-3-2 formula. On the other hand, customers could opt for two captain chairs for the middle row, while the rearmost one was good enough even for adults.
Under the hood, the 2025 Nissan Patrol was available with a choice of two engines. Base versions were powered by a 3.8-liter naturally aspirated straight-six powerhouse. As an option, buyers could get the 3.5-liter twin-turbo. Both versions were paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and a part-time 4x4 system.
