The Impala dominated car sales in the United States during the '60s, topping year after year with a performance that nobody expected when it was launched in 1958.
The Impala needed only a few years to become the number one car in the domestic market, spearheading Chevrolet's sales for more than a decade.

The 1965 iteration was the icing on the cake, as the Impala managed to sell more than 1 million units, including the Super Sport series, in a single year. Sales remained strong in the following years but gradually declined, especially as Chevrolet introduced more full-size series that cannibalized the Impala.

This 1969 Impala is a specimen that spent the last decades in storage, with eBay seller mobilebodyandpaint_5 explaining that it was parked by its owner in a garage in 1988. The car is back after 36 years, and its condition is surprising.

The owner parked this Impala with a full tank of gas, so the first thing everyone should do is clean the tank. However, the seller says they attempted to start the engine, and what do you know? It started right up, and the car even moves to get it on a trailer for shipping to another garage.

Its condition is impressive, as it's still wearing the original paint with "some touchup paint in places." However, you won't find any filler on this car, and the vinyl top is still original. There's the typical rust damage on this Impala, including on the finders and the quarter panels, but the floors and the trunk pan are "all solid and in good condition."

The interior looks better than expected for a car that's been sitting for nearly four decades. The dash is cracked, one headrest is missing, and the car lacks air conditioning (not installed from the factory).

The engine in charge of propelling this Impala is a 350ci V8 unit rated at 350 horsepower. It's paired with a TH400 transmission and should be the original engine installed by Chevrolet in this Impala before it left the factory. However, you should inspect this thoroughly, especially as it doesn't look like the car has been heavily altered, so it might qualify for a restoration to factory specifications.

The selling price makes sense for a 1969 Impala parked for so long but still coming in solid shape. The owner wants to get at least $10K for their Impala – this is the starting bid – but they surely expect to receive higher bids once the car gets more exposure. Meanwhile, it's parked in Hot Springs, North Carolina, and the buyer will need transportation to take it home.

The auction will end in six days, so you have enough time to contact the seller and request more information.
