Compared to some of the more derivative and drab electric SUVs you can buy in North America today, the Polestar 3 and Polestar are nothing short of nifty. With decent performance for its class and competitive battery EV range at its price point, you can do a lot worse for yourself than a Polestar EV these days. But Polestar's bosses at Volvo/Geely know their customers tend to be more of the "active" side.
You know, the kind of people who like to take their mountain bikes on weekend excursions across terrain human beings were never built to traverse. So then, instead of allowing Schwinn or Cannondale to take up space on a Polestar's rear bike rack, why not team with an established Swedish e-bike maker and present the pluckiest car and bike combo promotion ever applied to an EV? This is the Allebike Elize Polestar Engineered, and man, is that a mouthful.
But at least you get a healthy slug of refinement for your money. As a product of the eccentric and innovative Swedish bikemaker Allebike, the Elize Polestar Engineered both functionally and stylistically matches the character of Polestar's EV lineup to an uncanny degree. Its light and durable carbon fiber-reinforced polymer frame stays strong and durable while being as light as possible, an issue so many automakers in the EV space stills struggle with.
Meanwhile, a millet setup and slack head tube angle dialed in at 64 degrees makes for a ride perfectly at home on the trail or over an enduro track. Add an Öhlins RXF38 m.2 29 air suspensions with 170 mm of travel up front and 160 in the real, and this is a supremely capable mountain bike made from nothing but high-quality and contemporary build materials. That's without even mentioning the battery-electric drivetrain that's also included. We're talking about a Shimano EP8 electric motor bringing up to 85Nm (62.6 lb-ft) of torque at full throttle and supported by a 750 Wh battery that makes light work of steep inclines, dips in terrain and catching a little bit of air off jumps.
It's all aesthetically tied together with a two-tone paint job deliberately styled with the same colors you'd find on a new Polestar 3 and Polestar 4, namely Space black on the frame, seat, and handlebars with Swedish gold on the suspension and dampers. Even if it's not the most capable mountain bike on paper, the Elize Polestar Engineered will at least be the flashiest one in town. Granted, it will run you quite a bit of coin. We're talking €8,900 ($9,935.92) before taxes and fees. For that kind of money, you could put a down payment on a Polestar EV. But we can't say the bike EV combo doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
