This 2021 Ram 1500 TRX belongs to someone who thinks that there is no such thing as too much power. That is exactly why he is back for more just a few months after he had his pickup truck upgraded. Long gone are the days when the HEMI under the hood churned out "just" 702 horsepower.
In early 2024, the owner of the 1500 TRX got the 900-horsepower package on his TRX. The truck made over 770 horsepower on E85. About seven or eight months later, he is back for more.
An upper pulley, a lower overdrive balancer, and larger injectors showed up under the hood. The tuning experts also ported the supercharger and put in a 112-millimeter throttle body and an innerchiller to keep the temperature down, especially when sitting at a red light.
Fed by the freon in the AC system, the innerchiller can be controlled via switches that showed up in the center console. They can operate in Regular Mode in the street and Race Mode when the owner takes the Ram to the drag strip. All those mods took the Ram 1500 TRX to 885 horsepower. Those are the highest numbers they got on a dyno from a TRX with a factory ported blower.
The "TRX" lettering is the passcode to happiness. But not for this 1500 TRX owner. When it rolled off the production line, the front-mounted 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 of this pickup truck pumped out 702 horsepower (712 metric horsepower) and 650 pound-feet (881 Newton meters of torque). An eight-speed auto box puts the power down through all four wheels.
Now, the owner will drive home with about 100 horsepower more. Next time he wants more, Steven Fereday of Late Model Racecraft has the silver bullet for him. His team will turn the supercharger harder for over 900 horsepower.
The pickup truck still has the factory intake manifold and exhaust, so it still sounds like a stock Ram 1500 TRX until the owner steps on it. The Late Model Racecraft experts left room for more. Racing tailpipes and new mufflers would do the job.
The insane pickup truck can now run from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) in an incredible 3.58 seconds and covers the quarter mile in 11.60 seconds at 120 mph (193 kph) despite spinning the wheels. The TRX still rides on the stock wheels and tires and looks like it could use some extra traction.
The stock never-a-workhorse TRX takes 3.7 seconds to hit 60 mph from a standstill and needs 12.3 seconds for the quarter mile.
The LMR team has more pickup truck builds in store. A Ford F-150 arrived at their shop and will drive back home with a Whipple supercharger and more horsepower.
