Rockstar Games Can't Keep Up With GTA Online Players Surpassing Zombie-Slaying Milestones

Last week, Rockstar Games made it possible for GTA Online fans to revisit North Yankton, where the story from GTA V began over 11 years ago. You know, when Michael, Trevor, and Brad robbed a bank. Players got to revisit that area via the new Ludendorff Cemetery Survival mode, where they had to slay 80 million zombies in a wave-based fashion.
Gameplay-wise, there's nothing much to it except that with every new wave, more zombies appear, including new ones, until it becomes too much to handle and your entire team dies. But it seems like people can't get enough of it.

Leaker @TezFunz2 from X/Twitter revealed that well over 400,000 unique players participated in the event in less than 24 hours. In 48 hours, close to 750,000 people joined the zombie-slaying ranks. Now, nearly 1.7 million people had the time of their (alternate) lives in the Ludendorff Cemetery, racking up almost four million plays.

Even Rockstar Games was amazed by the sheer number of zombies players vanquished. Two days after announcing the first 80-million slain milestone, they updated the threshold to 200 million. As a reward for their efforts, the devs sent out the Orange Glow Skeleton Onesie and Red Hooded Skull Mask.

So far, over 600 million zombies have been slain, so Rockstar pumped up those rookie numbers to 800 million. However, given the ever-growing play session numbers, players will again hit the new target sooner than the devs expected.

The rewards are still available for those who haven't joined the North Yankton Nightmare Challenge yet, but more are coming next week, like the Purple Glow and Green Glow Skeleton Onesies. If you log in through October 23, you will also receive a free Brown Creepy Cat Mask.

To get the even creepier Black Cat Mask and $100,000 in GTA bills, you must eliminate your Clone Slasher. These doppelgängers appear in Freemode during nighttime and wander about looking for their next victim.

While you're at it, don't forget to join Slaher events for double rewards. If you're a GTA+ member, quadruple rewards are waiting for you. You can join them through the Featured Series in Legion Square or the Pause Menu's Adversary Modes.

Dax and the Fooliganz are in a giving mood, so completing the Acid Lab Sell Missions will hand out twice the usual GTA$ and RP through October 23. With that hard-earned money, you can visit your old pal Simeon.

He's waiting for you with special vehicles like the Declasse Scramjet, Benefactor Stirling GT, Grotti Cheetah, Chariot Romero Hearse, and Canis Bodhi.

The Scramjet is modeled after the old Speed Racer anime series, and the Stirling GT is made after the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL and 300 SLR. The Grotti Cheetah takes after the famous Ferrari Enzo, and the Chariot Romero is the creepy Lincoln Town Car Hearse. Lastly, the Canis Bodhi is Trevor's old rust bucket, made after the Kaiser Jeep M715.
