Sarah Fisher Secures 4-Race Deal with Dollar General

Sarah Fisher seems to take one step at a time in her new career as IndyCar team owner. Following 3 appearances in the series last year, the 28-year old secured a new sponsorship deal with Dollar General for a 4-race outing in the 2009 championship. DG had sponsored Sarah Fisher Racing in 2008, at Kentucky and Chicagoland.

In addition to the two events from last year, the No. 67 Honda-powered Dallara will be expected to make the grid at Kansas Speedway and the 93rd Indianapolis 500 race (where SFR was present the last year without a sponsor). All races sponsored by Dollar General will get under way on oval tracks.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Dollar General, and they have quickly become a great sponsor, as well as a trusted friend to the SFR team. I enjoyed racing for them last year and am thrilled that they are back for four more races. With Dollar General behind us, we are planning on a very successful season,” said Fisher after securing the deal.

“Dollar General is excited about being a part of IndyCar racing for a second season by sponsoring Sarah Fisher in four races. We look forward to cheering for Sarah and SFR as her team continues to grow and succeed,” said Rick Dreiling, Chairman and CEO of Dollar General.

The team's first outing in the 2009 IndyCar Series will be The Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 at Kansas Speedway on April 26th, the first oval track event of the new season (following street-course events at St Petersburg and Long Beach). However, Fisher revealed that her search for sponsorship will not end here, as she's aiming to make the grid in additional oval events of the new IndyCar season.
