2021 SEAT Arona Photos, engines & full specs

The Spanish automaker SEAT introduced the facelifted version of the Arona in the spring of 2021, trying to keep the sales figures up for one of its most successful models in the lineup.

SEAT, like all car manufacturers, suffered from poor sales during the world pandemic, but it still managed to build and deliver more than 350,000 units of the Arona. Furthermore, the microchip crisis that followed also affected production. Despite all these shortcomings, the Spanish car manufacturer recorded a high number of sales for its B-segment crossover, and the facelifted version came to keep that sales streak going. Besides some exterior changes, the 2021 SEAT Arona brought a richer interior with an improved infotainment system. In addition, the engine lineup was updated for the Euro 6d emission standards that became mandatory starting in January 2021.

Along with the updated version of the car, the 2021 SEAT Arona boasted new triangular headlights that received standard LEDs across the range. Between them, the redesigned grille sported a rhomboidal pattern for the mesh, with a 3D effect. The new wrapped-around plastic bumper featured a reversed trapezoidal air intake flanked by almost angular-shaped air intakes adorned by a satin-silver trim that mimicked a rock-sliding shield.

There were virtually no changes on the car’s profile. However, the 2021 SEAT Arona had a new design for the light-alloy wheels, which were 17- and 18-inch in size, sporting a new design. Customers could get the B-segment crossover in six grades: E, SE Technology, FR, FR Sport, Xperience, and Xperience Lux. Customers could now get a contrasting roof and silver door mirror caps, which added a sporty touch to the Arona look. At the back, the LED taillights echoed the shape of the headlights and had a new design with smaller reversing lights. Another significant detail was the nameplate’s badge, which featured handwriting lettering. Finally, the bumper was adorned by a fatter satin-silver rock-sliding shield, which was there only for decoration since it was made from plastic.

Inside, the automaker installed a new dashboard. It featured an 8.25” touchscreen for the infotainment unit on the E and SE grades, while the rest of the range received a 9.2” touch-sensitive one. At the same time, the 2021 SEAT Arona boasted a fresh 10.25” digital cockpit that fronted the driver. Besides the regular dials, it could be personalized to show various information from the car’s onboard computer and directions from the navigation system. The front bucket seats were available with cloth or Alcantara upholstery, which gave customers the feeling of an upscale car despite the hard plastic materials covering the dash, the center console, and the door cards.

Under the hood, the 2021 SEAT Arona came with a range of spark-ignited engines, with three and four cylinders. The base version was animated by a one-liter powerhouse that developed 95 PS (94 hp), carried over from the 2017 model year. The most potent Arona was powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that developed 150 PS (148 hp). Along with the facelifted model, SEAT ditched the turbodiesel powerplants. Instead, the Spanish car manufacturer added a fresh LPG-fueled inline-three engine that was suitable for fleet vehicles.
