Suzuki unveiled the fourth generation of its small-sized hatchback Swift in late 2023 for the 2024 model year, and despite looking very similar to its predecessor, it was an utterly new car.

The Swift was one of the best-known cars made by the Japanese automakers. Moreover, its previous generations were also badged as Holden or Chevrolet in different parts of the world. The small-sized hatchback was produced in various shapes and sizes, including a convertible and a sedan. Still, customers knew it mostly as a three- and five-door hatchback. The 2024 model year came only as a five-door affair since demand for the three-door version was low, and it didn’t make sense for the manufacturer to produce the car in two shapes. By the end of 2023, the Swift has been sold in 169 countries, with over nine million units in total.

Even if the 2024 Swift looked familiar to its customers, everything was new. Its redesigned clamshell hood and the flared fenders emphasized the rounded shape of the car’s front. Suzuki installed new headlights with L-shaped LED daytime running lights and projector LED headlamps. The automaker installed a piano-black grille between them that sported a hexagonal pattern design. On the lower side of the bumper, the automaker placed a second slim air intake and a black lip spoiler underneath it. As a result, the 2024 Swift retained the sporty look of its predecessors.

Suzuki penned the 2024 Swift available with a black roof and A-, B-, and C-pillars, creating a fresh image for the B-segment vehicle. Its sculptured doors featured a crease on their lower side, while the rear fenders were slightly enlarged to create a stronger image for the car. The greenhouse kept the overall proportions of the 2004 Swift, with an almost straight-up C-post and a slightly tilted forward tailgate. Finally, at the back, the automaker added a roof spoiler on top of the rear window and concealed the exhausts. Customers could have the car with a choice of eight single-tone options and four dual-tone colors.

Inside, the most striking piece of equipment was the center-mounted 9-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system mounted atop the center stack. The driver fronted an instrument cluster with a clean layout where the dials for the speedometer and tachometer flanked a TFT display. Suzuki installed bucket seats at the front with mild bolstered areas, while in the back was just enough room for a couple of passengers since there was limited legroom for a third, middle-seated one. The trunk was not particularly large, but it was enough for the daily routine. In addition, the folding down bench seat allowed customers to increase the trunk volume.

Suzuki was known for its small-sized, fuel-efficient engine, and that’s what it planted under the hood of the 2024 Swift. The inline-three powertrain was helped by a mild-hybrid system that allowed it to reduce fuel consumption. Power went to the front or in all corners of the car via an LSD-based all-wheel drive system, depending on the version.
