Just because you opt for the most rugged and badass RV shouldn't have to mean ditching expectations of complete comfort and even a touch or two of elegance. The Nordic Lodge RV line of ice house RVs wants to be an example of how you can have the best of both worlds.
In this particular case, those worlds would be "off-grid vacations" and "comfortable family home." They co-exist beautifully in the Nordic Lodge RV, which recently got a 22-foot (6.7-meter) model for the 2025 year-model, the longest in the entire lineup so far.
Nordic Lodge RV is a Minnesota-based builder associated with Westre's Marine & Sport, which also makes boats and toy haulers. The Nordic Lodge RV, which stands both for the company name and the product itself, is a newer player on the market and specializes in rugged, winterized RVs and toy haulers.
The Nordic Lodge towable is an ice house/fish house RV that "boasts exceptional features and durability," designed to offer comfort in whatever scenario you can picture for a vacation with your family or friends. Speaking of, you can fit them all in the 22-foot model, which has no less than five berths for a total capacity of up to 9 people, depending on how much bed space they hog at night and whether they're cuddlers or not.
As its name says, Nordic Lodge RVs are designed "with Nordic strength," handcrafted to suit even the most discerning adventurers and their passions, whether fishing, hunting, or recreation. Though described as RVs, they're primarily ice houses, which means the "secret" ingredient to them is a dipped galvanized hydraulic frame that drops onto the ice and offers holes for ice fishing so you don't have to step outside and face the bitter cold.
The 22-foot (6.7-meter) model is the 21-foot (6.4-meter) one with an added foot (0.3 meters) of length inside. The maker opts to keep the original layout and features but uses the extra length to add more storage options, leaving one spot for future customization from the owner.
The double-axle RV is true to its name in the styling of the interior, so you get a combination of unpainted natural wood for the cabinets with plywood flooring for that lodge feel. At the same time, though, you also get top-of-the-line Furrion appliances, cushy seats, a pair of wall-mounted TVs (technically, you get space for them, they're not included as standard), and even a Furrion fireplace in the lounge.
Regardless of how it's put to use, the Rustic Lodge RV lives like a very fancy log cabin, offering a full kitchen and a full dry bathroom, as well as plenty of space for lounging and sleeping, and comfortably high ceilings. Built with laminated panels, insulated RV windows and doors, and completely winterized, the Nordic Lodge RV is meant to be a reliable and absolutely comfortable habitat regardless of the season you fancy for vacationing.
The layout puts the kitchen and the bathroom at one end of the trailer and the bedroom/dinette at the other. In between, you get a small lounge with a jackknife sofa and a drop-down bunk bed, two storage units built with radius countertops that can effectively double as prep space for meal times.
The kitchen is a full one, as is the bathroom. That is to say, you have there all the things you need for everyday convenience and comfort. In the kitchen, that means a double stainless steel sink, a full-size range with oven, an extractor, a built-in microwave, and a large fridge with freezer. You also get some counter space here, as well as plenty of storage options for all your pots and pans and foodstuffs.
The bathroom is compact but very well specced, with a sink with vanity and storage overhead, a cassette toilet, and a separate walk-in shower.
Besides the jackknife sofa and the overhead bunk, more sleeping berths are available in the convertible dinette, as well as in a queen-size bed that drops from the ceiling.
Unlike what you get in a standard RV, you can't join the benches, connecting them with the table to form a large bed. The table in this unit is a folding one so that it can double as a picnic table outside when the weather is fine. But the sofas fold down and seem large enough to comfortably fit one adult – or even two at a squeeze.
The 22-foot Nordic Lodge RV weighs 6,480 lbs (2,929 kg). Features include a 30,000 BTU furnace, a Dometic AC system, 6 covered catch holes, a 20-foot awning (6-meter) with LED lighting, USB and charging ports both inside and out, a deep-cycle battery, and a pair of full propane tanks.
No word on the dimensions of the water tanks on the new model, but the 2024 21-footer came with 20 gallons (76 liters) of freshwater and a 32-gallon (121-liter) tank for waste, so we assume this remains unchanged.
Planned retail price for the 2025 Nordic Lodge RV is $63,394. The only completed unit so far – the one toured in the video below – is selling at a discount, but the final price is on request.
