As the world's large cities become increasingly congested with vehicular traffic, more and more people are looking for cleaner and more efficient transport solutions, and cargo e-bikes are a great option for those who want to dodge overcrowded roads and still be able to haul groceries and their little ones around town.
Decathlon, a company known for its great value bicycles and e-bikes, has just introduced the B'Twin F900E electric cargo bike, a compelling product that will certainly appeal to city dwellers who want to leave the car behind. With the ability to accommodate up to five passengers, a secure door, and a built-in canopy, this new two-wheeler has been dubbed the "minivan of e-bikes" and is poised to redefine family transportation.

While most cargo e-bikes sport a long-tail design, this model comes with a front-loading setup (also known as long john configuration) and has four child-sized passenger seats.

The bike boasts a sturdy frame, a curved handlebar, and an adjustable seat for the rider. The spacious bucket-shaped box at the front accommodates three children, while the fourth will travel in a dedicated carrier on the sturdy rear rack. In total, the electric cargo bike can support loads of up to 184 kg (406 pounds), including 101.5 kg (about 224 pounds) at the front and 27 kg (56 pounds) on the rear rack. All passengers will travel safely thanks to the integrated five-point harnesses, which give parents peace of mind when covering long distances.

Besides ensuring easy maneuverability, an advantage of this configuration is that it lets you keep an eye on your kids while biking. And the kids will also be happy as they can see all around them while sitting comfortably.

The B'Twin F900E is powered by a central 250W Brose S Mag motor that delivers up to 90 Nm of torque and assists the rider at speeds up to 25 kph (16 mph), depending on the terrain and the load.

Equipped with a 36V 17.5Ah lithium-ion battery with 630Wh of capacity, the e-bike is said to provide between 40 to 80 km (25 to 50 miles) of range on pedal assist mode.

Other features include a torque sensor, a robust double kickstand that ensures stability during loans and unloading, 4G and GPS connectivity, and a color screen that displays data such as battery range and speed.

The family-sized F900E was designed for the European market, so it aligns with the regulations in this part of the world. It lacks a throttle and only rides on pedal assist, and the design is focused on providing high efficiency rather than speed.

In terms of pricing, the B'Twin F900E cargo e-bike is available for £4,999 in the UK and €4,999 across Europe (about $6,400), which is really great value considering the bike is sold fully equipped with the front carrier, rain protector, windshield, and door for easy access.
