Why settle for one neat feature when you could have more – and in pairs, too? That was probably not the reasoning behind this freshly introduced 2025 Cherokee Timberwolf destination trailer, but it might as well have been.
The Forest River-built Cherokee Timberwolf trailers are destination trailers that aim to bring "the convenience of home" wherever you might travel and to enjoy it for longer stretches as you decompress from the "everyday hustle and bustle of city life." In much simpler words, they're destination trailers that do their best to turn a more compact space into a proper home, with all the creature comforts and the space of one.
Since they're destination trailers, they're not meant to travel back and forth like a travel trailer. That means they're heavier, longer, and/or wider, but they can still be towed with the right rig and the right kind of experience.
Whatever they might lose in terms of mobility, destination trailers more than make up for in features and space. The Cherokee Timberwolf line is a good example in this sense – and the recently-introduced 27MDK model an even better one.
The 2025 Cherokee Timberwolf 27MDK is the latest addition to this line of destination trailers and it takes the whole home-like convenience to heart, offering at least one feature you're not going to find in any other towable. That would be double covered patios, one in front of the main bedroom and the other for the living room and the kitchen.
Presented at the Dealer Expo in Elkhart, IN, earlier this year and toured in detail in the video available at the bottom of the page, the 27MDK is yet to get an official spec sheet. However, one dealer lists it at 35 feet in length, with a width of 102 inches with the patios closed and 14 feet with the patios in place. The trailer tips the scales at 8,600 lbs.
Since these aren't the official figures, do take them as rough reference points. They should still be enough to offer you an appreciation of the kind of space it offers.
There's plenty of it, too! The trailer could sleep at least seven people in comfort, including one person crashing on the L-shaped living room couch. It would be equally capable of entertaining them, as well, thanks to the large living room, the bigger patio, a compact but well-specced kitchen, and a full bathroom.
Forest River calls the two patios "Campsite Terrace," emphasizing the obvious fact that they're meant to turn into socializing spaces at camp. The "terrace" name also highlights their size but hardly does it justice: the larger patio, which gets two access points into the habitat, is large enough to fit a 4-person table and still have space to move around. It also features marine-grade speakers and a TV bracket, which further ups its entertaining capacity.
The other patio is smaller and more private, with access from inside the main bedroom. This room also gets a second side entrance for maximum privacy.
The interior is as well thought-out as the exterior. The layout features two lofts, one over the bedroom and a smaller one over the bathroom. The bigger loft is actually a full bedroom but without the standing height, boasting a queen-sized bed, a second electric fireplace, wardrobes and shelving, and room to spare. The smaller loft is better suited as a kids' room, and that's saying everything you need to know about it.
The front part of the trailer is taken up by daytime communal spaces, like the open-plan kitchen and the massive lounge, which, again, is tailor-made for entertaining. The kitchen is compact but packed with everything you need for a comfortable (and nourishing) stay. It boasts a 3-burner propane cooktop, an oven, a microwave, and an XL double-door fridge with freezer, and plenty of storage space throughout.
Meanwhile, the living room is all about chilling – and watching TV. The L-shaped couch has integrated storage and sits facing a big-screen TV mounted on the wall above the patio door, so it's just perfect for game nights or nights of watching whatever your current binge obsession is.
Features will include another fireplace in the living room, a 15,000 BTU ducted AC, Tufbac syntec flooring throughout, speakers inside and out, manual awnings over the patios (12- and 18-foot, respectively), on-demand water heater, and a washer-dryer unit in the bedroom.
Forest River presented the new model at the Dealer Expo to gauge interest in it and see whether they'll take it into production. There's no official update on how that's going, but that same dealer that offers the rough measurements also lists an MRSP of $48,995. If this checks out, it would be a great deal for this kind of mobile house where the party never stops.
