Harley-Davidson's gamble with the LiveWire electric motorcycle model may not have paid off as expected, but at least we now have a new two-wheeler brand on our hands, one that doesn't shy away from releasing products targeted at the people Harley doesn't necessarily consider: youngsters. Case in point, the LiveWire S2 Del Mar x Anti Social Social Club one-of-one motorcycle.
The S2 Del Mar is still relatively new on the market, with just two years of presence behind it. It's not necessarily the most outstanding electric motorcycle out there in terms of sales, but it gets the job done for the LiveWire brand, and that means from time to time we're treated with custom rides that look outstanding, as a sort of thank you.
The particular Del Mar that brought us here today is the work of California-based SMCO on behalf of LiveWire and LA-based streetwear company Anti Social Social Club (ASSC). It is supposed to honor the latter's ten years anniversary and, for one reason or another, it draws inspiration from gaming consoles released two decades ago. More specifically, the 2004 Xbox.
At its core the bike remains the usual Del Mar, as far as we can tell. The powertrain that gets this thing moving comprises an electric motor that delivers 84 horsepower and 194 ft-lb of torque, and pushes the bike to a top speed of 103 mph (166 kph), and a battery pack that ensures a range of 113 miles (182 km) in city riding.
The look of the thing, however, is significantly different from stock. The first things that catch the eye are the brightly colored and optically clear body pieces (things like the front fender and the headlight shroud), the ones that bring back the 2004 Xbox vibes, and sporting the the ASSC logo. The unique look of the body parts was achieved with help from custom paint house Airtrix.
The seat of this unique Del Mar is special too. Put together by Saddlemen, it features circuit patterns, in another attempt to bring back gaming vibes. To accompany the build LiveWire tapped Alpinestars to develop a special helmet for it as well.
The one-off LiveWire S2 Del Mar x Anti Social Social Club will make its public debut in Las Vegas, during this weekend's ComplexCon event. Its presence there is not only meant to advertise the companies that contributed to making it, but it's also an attempt to sell it.
That's right, this custom is for sale, and the asking price is $22,509. That's significantly more than the $15,499 LiveWire is asking for the standard version, but it probably won't get in the way of it selling. Especially considering the fact that there will never be another bike like it around. Ever.
LiveWire says the one who will buy the bike should expect to take delivery of it sometime in January 2025 for some reason.
