Ben and Guillaume Barras of Angry Lane have been keeping busy as of late, with a steady stream of sweet custom projects flowing out of their shop in Hong Kong. The latest motorcycle they’ve pieced together is based on the Sportster platform from Harley-Davidson, more specifically an Iron 883 from the model-year 2011. Their client had only one simple request for them to keep in mind.
He wanted the fuel tank to be covered in some snazzy octopus graphics, but just about everything else was left at Angry Lane’s discretion. With the Harley delivered to their facility, the Barras brothers had the pleasant surprise of finding its V-twin engine fitted with a 1,200cc big bore kit. That was cool and all, but the motor still needed some serious tuning in order to make the most of this upgrade.

It was therefore kitted with a high-grade ThunderMax control module, as well as some tasty respiratory bits at both ends of the combustion cycle. Air is now drawn in through an S&S air cleaner, and the exhaust gases flow through a two-into-one setup from Vance and Hines. Fresh cam and sprocket covers were also thrown into the mix, then the boys moved on to the bodywork.

Browsing through the Rough Crafts catalog, they picked up a stunning fuel tank topped with a billet aluminum filler cap. A new rear fender was thrown into the shopping cart, too, and the groovy saddle placed between them was fabricated in-house by Ben and upholstered in purple-dyed leather. Up north in the cockpit area, there are color-matched Biltwell grips worn by an LSL handlebar.

Bar-end mirrors and turn signals also make an appearance in that area, along with Purpose Built Moto switches and a Motogadget Motoscope Tiny dial. Further ahead, you’ll spot a small yellow-tinted headlight dripping with vintage charm, wired through a PBM controller just like all the other electronics. Yet another big change took place in the unsprung sector.

There we find a new pair of laced Jonich wheels wrapped in retro-looking Firestone rubber, as well as higher-spec brake discs fore and aft. Angry Lane had the forks lowered and fitted with fresh springs, while replacing the rear shocks with adjustable aftermarket substitutes. They fitted a swingarm-mounted license plate bracket on the left-hand side, and rear-end lighting comes from multi-function LEDs supplied by Motogadget.

Now, the paintwork is what really brings everything together, with a shade of purple also chosen as the base color for the tank and fender. The customer's request was honored with some silver tank graphics depicting octopus tentacles, besides a pair of Harley-Davidson logos on the sides. Most other items were painted black in a mixture of gloss, matte, and satin finishes.
