This 2023 Chrysler 300C was purchased new from Karl Malone Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram of Heber City, Utah, and still has just 22 miles on the clock. It was up for grabs at auction until just yesterday when it failed to sell. The top bid only went as high as $49,000, which might seem fair for a car that cost $56,595 a couple of years ago.
The flip side of that argument is that Chrysler isn’t making any more 300C models, and finding one that’s basically still brand new is quite difficult. I mean, 22 miles? This is a barely driven vehicle. One might say it’s got delivery miles on it and that’s it.
If I had to guess, I’d say the seller was at least looking to recoup their original “investment”, which let’s face it, seems reasonable seeing as how the bidding nearly went to $50k already. What’s another $5-6k? My feeling is that this car will sell eventually, and that whoever buys it will enjoy driving around in a still-new 300C with awesome specs and a great exterior color.
As for this car being purchased from the “Mailman’s” dealership, why is that relevant? It isn’t, unless you’re a big Karl Malone fan, or at least a big NBA fan. Malone owns several dealerships in the Utah area, which he purchased after retiring from the NBA in 2004 – I think we can thank the Detroit Pistons for that.
Also, if you’ve been living under a rock and don’t know who Karl Malone is or how good he was at putting the ball in the basket, here are some stats for you: 6 ft 9" power forward out of Louisiana Tech; 13th overall pick by the Utah Jazz in the 1985 draft; 19-year NBA career; a two-time NBA MVP, 14x All-Star, 2x All-Star MVP, 11x All-NBA First Team, 2x Olympic Gold Medalist – and that’s just scratching the surface. He’s got career averages of 25.0 ppg, 10.1 rpg and 3.6 apg.
Back to this Velvet Red 300C, it’s also got a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a decklid spoiler, a black grille, dual exhaust outlets, and a set of forged 20” Lights Out-painted wheels with 245/45 Goodyear Eagle RS-A2 tires. It’s also factory-fitted with the optional high-performance independent suspension and red-finished Brembo calipers at each corner.
Meanwhile, interior highlights include the black Laguna leather seats (also heated, ventilated, and power-adjustable), embossed 300C emblems, dual-zone automatic climate control, adaptive cruise control, push-button ignition, a 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, sat-nav, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, plus a heated steering wheel with paddle shifters.
As for performance, we’re dealing with a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine, good for 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque, with everything going to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. It's quite good in a straight line.
