If Brinkley RV deliberately set out to build a pocket rocket one day, it would look very much like the Model Z 2680, their latest and smallest-to-date fifth-wheel RV. Compact and relatively lightweight but packed with features and luxury finishes, this new model is definitely a looker!
Brinkley RV was founded in 2022 by five people with decades of RV experience between themselves. They're a new presence on the market, but they've already built a reputation for quality work, creative designs, and exquisite attention to detail. Brinkley RVs are instantly recognizable for all these things, as well as from afar, thanks to the automotive-inspired design with sleek finishes.
Brinkley offers three lines of towables: one for travel trailers, one for toy haulers, and another one for fifth-wheel RVs. The Model Z is the fifth-wheel RV series, currently comprised of eight different floorplans, including the just-introduced Z 2680.
Model Z 2680 is designed for couples traveling with or without kids, looking to entertain, working remotely, or simply wanting time off everything to relax and spend by themselves. It's the most compact entry in the series, so it's the shortest and lightest but still unmistakably Brinkley in style and features. That is to say, it's small but just as gorgeous as its bigger, badder siblings, and that's actually saying a lot!
Model Z 2680 is 29.11 feet (8.8 meters) in total length, with a gross vehicle weight rating of 13,995 lbs (6,348 kg).
It features one medium-sized slide on the driver's side, which expands available living space in the kitchen and the open-plan living room. The slide-out holds the fridge, the pantry, and a pair of reclining theater seats, so all the basic functionalities remain accessible when it's closed. In other words, you can still access the kitchen, the bathroom, and the main bedroom when the slide is closed.
Entrance is done directly into the living room, which also features a sleeper sofa that can sleep a pair of guests on occasion. The kitchen is massive for a towable this size, with an L-shaped counter that integrates all the basic appliances, heaps of storage, and plenty of workspace. All the cabinets and drawers are real hardwood with soft close, and the Brinkley styling is apparent throughout: solid surface countertops with satin finishes, adjustable mood LED lighting, and every inch of space is utilized to the maximum.
The kitchen also integrates two flex spaces, one of which is styled in the video below as a remote office for two. The other is the Brinkley patented Dinesk, a modular table with several possible positions and applications: dining table, bar, and desk. Under the Dinesk is a large-screen TV mounted on a swiveling arm, facing the two theater seats on the opposite wall.
Up three stairs is the bathroom and, further down the hallway, the main sleeping space. Like the kitchen, these spaces too are residential in size, so they don't feel cramped or like making a compromise in any other way.
They also offer plenty of space to move around and more storage options than you could possibly need on an extended vacation, which makes the Model Z 2680 suitable for long-term living as well. The bathroom is similar to what you'll find in larger Brinkley models, with a one-piece molded shower with LED light strips, a foot-flush toilet, a sink with vanity, and two more pieces that offer storage.
Meanwhile, the bedroom holds a queen-size bed framed by cabinets overhead, with storage underneath and even more storage on the wall at the foot of it. A chest of drawers here can be removed to add a washer and dryer unit, and you're still left with another unit for storage that actually connects to the one in the bathroom.
Features of this RV include insulation in the floor, walls, and ceiling, Azdel composite walls, an 18,000 BTU AC unit, two hot and cold outdoor showers, tankless on-demand water heater, heated enclosed underbelly, an exterior 12V fridge, one-touch leveling system, heavy-duty 7,000-lb (3,175-kg) axles, and a 370W solar panel with a 60AMP MPPT controller.
Tanks are all heated, offering 75 gallons (284 liters) of fresh water, 80 gallons (303 liters) for gray, and 40 gallons (151.4 liters) for black.
Brinkley RV announced the Model Z 2680 earlier this fall and is yet to finalize the complete spec list. That means that the first units are yet to go out to dealers as of this writing, which, in turn, means there's no exact MRSP for the standard spec. That said, dealers are expecting this model to sell for anything between $86,000 and $102,000, which would also make it the cheapest new fifth-wheel RV from Brinkley.
But if you're not in the market for a fifth-wheel RV or would be but don't have the budget for one like this, looking doesn't cost anything.
